The M1A2 SEP V2 (System Enhancement Package Version 2) is an advanced variant of the U.S. Army's M1 Abrams main battle tank, designed to improve survivability, lethality, and situational awareness on the modern battlefield. Introduced in the early 2010s, the V2 represents a significant upgrade over previous M1A2 versions.

Externally, the M1A2 SEP V2 retains the iconic Abrams profile, but internally it features major improvements. These include a revised armor package with upgraded depleted uranium mesh for enhanced protection against kinetic and chemical energy threats. It also incorporates improved thermal imaging in both the gunner’s and commander’s sights, upgraded computers, and an improved command-and-control interface via the FBCB2 (Force XXI Battle Command Brigade and Below) system.

Mobility remains a key strength, with the 1,500 hp Honeywell AGT1500 gas turbine engine giving the 70-ton tank a top speed of around 42 mph (67 km/h). The tank's firepower centers around its 120mm M256 smoothbore cannon, supported by improved fire control and a stabilized platform for accurate fire on the move.
